Divas are Ageless

What do you think of when you think of a Diva?  If you are thinking of high maintenance and full of drama, I am thinking you have the wrong view of just what a Diva is.  That actual original word Diva is a “term used to describe a woman of outstanding talent in the world of opera.”   However, it is the sense of the word – “goddess” and through time came to be known as a woman who is in touch with their inner goddess, is talented and knows what she wants and goes after it.

Humble Diva posted this definition of “Diva” on Urban Dictionary “A woman who is usually perceived as bitch or self-absorbed, which in some cases they are. A diva is a woman who has self-confidence, self-respect, and hella swagger. She knows who she is and exactly where she is going. Her style and attitude are on point even when she is not trying. People typically gravitate to her because they respect her swagger.”  I like that definition and it is very fitting.

I am sure everyone can list women they know that fits the above description of a diva.  Just a few mature divas that roll off my mind with ease are:

Studio publicity portrait for film Love in the Afternoon, 1957, (Wikipedia)

Winfrey at the White House for the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors (Wikipedia

President Barack Obama presenting Angelou with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, 2011 (Wikipedia)

and Betty White.

Betty White InStyle.com 1958, White sported a wavy pageboy when she played newlywed Vicki Angel on "Date with the Angels." (Everett Collection)

That is one thing about a diva, it knows no age; it is timeless.

Some may feel that the Glamour Galore collection is just for the youthful diva’s, however, it is for the diva in all women, regardless of age, from the congratulatory gift to an upcoming diva when she graduates from Kindergarten to the mature diva for their 99th birthday.  We as women all have an inner goddess, a little diva running through our blood.  Help other women celebrate and embrace their inner diva goddess with a little Glamour Galore.  After all, are we not all worth it?
